25 Things I've Learned in 25 Years

25 Things I've Learned in 25 Years, life lessons, advice, life advice, paying bills, confidence, self love, life lessons worth noting, time is a healer, mind your own business, clean the house, happiness, how to make yourself happiness, be your own happiness, writing, stop looking at the past, move forward, make real friends, inspiration, fashion inspiration, life inspiration, life lessons I've learned

Over a quarter century (holy crap that sounds like such a long time) I've learned a lot of different things. Today I thought I'd go through some of the most noteworthy that I remember. Photos were taken on Mount Lemmon.

Do not depend on others to make me feel good about myself.
I need to be kind to myself and treat myself better because it's my responsibility to make myself feel good about myself, not someone else's. This is a topic that I'm really passionate about and I wrote all about self confidence and self love here.

People who inspire me. I've learned that positive, successful, organized and put together individuals are really inspirational to me. My top inspiration is Victoria from InTheFrow. While she could be my best friend in real life, she is a style icon, incredibly positive and massively successful through her career.

Dress myself. This is definitely a plus, but all of my fashionable friends like Amanda, Brooke and Courtney give me some excellent fashion inspiration. Their photography and outfits make me want to buy clothes!

Ambition is everything. I work hard until I achieve my goals.

What real friends are. When I decided to get more serious about blogging and YouTubing, I thought my "best friends" would be 100% behind me and support me in any way possible in order to help me kickstart the blogging game right up off the ground. Sadly, a few of them took no interest and actually told me not to ask them to follow me on social networks. That is not a friendship by any stretch of imagination. I support my friends and their endeavors no matter what it requires. If you can't hit 'like' on a post every now and again, I do not see you as supportive. Sorry.

Get outdoors. The fresh air does a world of good.

Stop looking in the rearview mirror. This is obviously an analogy because PLEASE do look in the rearview mirror, otherwise you'll be crashing your car all over the place, but I've gotten better at keeping the past in the past and I've learned not to bring other people's past into my current friendship with them. Leave it behind and stop looking back.

Stop making excuses. I'm the queen of excuses. "I can't work out tonight because I need to write a blog post" Really? You can't? I like to justify some decisions with excuses. I am still learning how to stop the excuses but I am conscientious of it and the only way is up.

I love blogging and making YouTube videos. I really enjoy doing it and interacting with people all over the world through my little laptop. Writing has been something I've always loved and found comfortable because I'm better at communicating my thoughts through the written word than I am of the spoken word. I also like editing videos and putting the music together, it just makes me feel so accomplished and happy to do creative work like this.

Save money. Ugh, I hate the thought of not buying something because I'm saving money for future me. Can't future me figure it out then? But in all seriousness if I want to buy a house...say ever...I need to save those dineros. Damnit adulthood.

The worst someone can say is no. If I don't offer ideas and suggestions, they will never be heard. Better speak up since the worst thing isn't so bad.
Happiness. No one is in control of my happiness besides me. If I'm not happy with a situation, I need to strategically figure out the best way to make myself happier or get out of the situation.

I like flowers. I'd buy them everyday if I had enough vases....oh and money.

I'm a homebody. I like to stay inside on my laptop watching Netflix and chillin' with a glass of red wine. Much better than being in a sweaty stinky nightclub drinking until I feel sick.

I like to clean. Who would've thought? I actually like the feeling of cleaning the house and putting everything back in an organized manner.

Mind my own business. I don't need to be involved in other people's drama or bring myself into it. It's best to stay out of it.

Break-ups are a bitch. Nobody likes to feel that - for lack of better terms - heart ache after a breakup, yet everyone will typically experience this at least once in their lives. There will be someone that breaks your heart and makes you feel like crap for a few weeks.

Time heals everything. Maybe I shouldn't say "everything" but honestly it heals most things. Over time you think about the breakup less, you remember the person who passed in a positive way and it improves your day rather than making you completely distraught. Time heals.

Life isn't fair. It's cliche, but that doesn't mean it's any less true. We all have our own paths and some are more fortunate or less fortunate than others, it's just the way it is.

Life is too short. Let the small shit go...immediately. Don't waste a second of life being upset about something ridiculous. Still learning to do this consistently every single day.

Confidence. Still not 100% confident, but I'm getting there.

Be on time. It makes a great impression and makes me look prepared and sure of myself. It also makes me feel less rushed and chaotic.

Pay the bills every month. Don't let the credit card bills stack up. Interest is literally money flying out of my pocket if that's the case. Also credit score is a thing...and you need a good one to buy a house and a car. When I was 18, I decided to rack up a credit card and then not pay it because I didn't have the funds. It killed my credit score and I'm just now rising from the ashes into a normal credit score.

I can run a few miles. I did cross country and track in high school and thanks to Coach Bob back in the day, I can still run a couple of miles even without much practice.

Adult beverages. I like to enjoy a cocktail, a glass of wine, a beer on the mountain and so forth. Heck, I think I'll go grab one right now!

While I've learned a lot, there's so much more to learn...like how to do proper winged liner ;)
