When Rimmel sent me a package filled with their latest and greatest from the Kate collection, I was so excited to test it all out and see if I could get that “London look.” If you know anything about me, you know I am obsessed with London and I just want to visit so badly. Rimmel is the closest thing to London, and I hope to someday visit.
Rimmel London sent me all three of the new Kate Sculpting Kits. These retail for $6.99 USD, which is such a great deal given this is a bronzer, blush and highlighter. They come in three shades: golden sands, coral glow and golden bronze. The bronzer gets darker and dark as you move from golden sands to coral glow to golden bronze. This makes golden bronze extremely dark that it’s practically not usable for me. I love the highlighters from all three, but my favorite highlighter comes from the coral glow one. The blush in coral glow is also my favorite, along with the highlighter. I think it’s safe to say the middle one, coral glow, seems to be my absolute favorite. This is incredibly long-lasting too, across the board. I find that the bronzer, blush and highlighter are all incredibly pigmented.
The Lasting Finish by Kate Nude Lipsticks are such a dream. I received the shades 41, 45 and 47. If you follow along on Instagram, this makeup look got a whole lot of love. This was my London look using all of these goodies. #41 is my favorite of the three, without a doubt. I love the perfect light pink shade because it makes my lips look incredible. #45 is more of a mauve light pink, which is nice and matches the color of my lips. #47 is a deeper almost berry mauve, which is nice for an evening out. You can see all the colors here. While the existing colorful Kate collection was previously available, these come from the addition of the nude series. They’re $4.97 each, and for the opacity and long wear, I’d definitely say they’re worth it. I also really enjoy the creamy feel because they’re hydrating and not drying. They do come off on cups, but hey it’s lipstick.
I’ve been on a serious mascara kick lately, and while I’m not always a big believe of drugstore mascaras (read about my favorite high-end ones here) I have to give Rimmel a big thumbs up for the Wonderlash Volume Colorist Mascara. This mascara has pigments, so it instantly makes my lashes look more full and voluminous, which is a huge plus given my real lashes are not that exciting. Retailing at $8.99, but having better quality than most Benefit mascaras (my opinion folks) I think this is a total steal. This mascara also has a lash-tinting complex to it, which is super useful for getting the darkest lashes possible. The darker the lash, the more intense it appears whether you have lighter, medium or dark skin tones. Dark lashes really enhance the eyes so that tinting complex is pretty sweeet, just sayin’.
One interesting thing I’ve noticed is that with a lot of drugstore makeup products, the mascaras tend to always cost more than most other products. It’s clear to brands that we value our lashes, and the quality of mascara, to enhance our beauty on a regular basis. It’s crazy to me that a bronzer, blush and highlighter trio can be cheaper than a tube of mascara. Don’t you think so? Anyway, that’s my random thought for the day. Hope you’re having an awesome day!
