The Perfect Wine for the Season

Sipping on Cameron Hughes Wine

Thank you Cameron Hughes for sponsoring this post. Capture the celebratory spirit of the holidays, and toast to the season with Cameron Hughes wine!

As an avid wine drinker, I enjoy testing all kinds of wines. After receiving 3 varietals from Cameron Hughes, I was excited to get down to the bottom of each one. As the holidays swiftly approach, we know wine is the perfect drink for Thanksgiving and the holiday festivities in December.

This is a photo of me holding a glass of white wine from Cameron Hughes as I sit on a bench with more wines in front of me. I am surrounded by dark pink flowers.

Cabernet Sauvignon

When it comes to red wine, I am always in need of a Cabernet Sauvignon, because I love the well-balanced nature of this varietal. When Cameron Hughes Cab Sav was poured into my drink, I swirled the glass around and took a deep inhale of the smell of the wine. It was absolutely intoxicating, but smelled so balanced. As soon as the wine touched my lips, I could taste the blackberry and cassis notes. This wine comes from Napa Valley, and is identifiable as the 606.  While it may seem hard to believe, if you're a wine lover, you know that Cab Sav is not particularly sweet. It has the same amout of residual sugar as a Merlot varietal, which always seems like none due to its sometimes bitter and non-sweet essence. Cab Sav does seem to be more smooth and balanced on the sweet scale, and this particular wine was well balanced and super smooth.

Pinor Noir

When it comes to this particular varietal, I always find it much lighter than a cabernet sauvignon or a merlot. It's got a fruiter lighter essence to it.

This pinot has tannin, and pinot is often noted for its natural ability to be lighter than other red wines and have low tannin. The stems add tannin, which you can taste on the front of your tongue as a drying and astringent sensation. When it comes to balance, this one is a bit more drying then a Cab, but it has its own well balanced appeal while also being a bit more sweet.

Chardonnay

When it comes to chardonnays, buttery flavors are most often associated with them. This is one of the few wines that can be bright enough to benefit from some acidity in the varietal. In addition, chardonnay usually has somewhat of an oaky taste to it which I also enjoy quite a bit.

This particular Chardonnay, known as the 576, is well balanced. It's got a bit of that acidity but is smooth like butter, without being overly buttery. There's an oaky element to it, but it's faint. Overall, that balance is really done quite well, without being too overbearing with the buttery flavors.

All in all, when it comes to Cameron Hughes wine, it is delicious wine at an extraordinary price. If you're looking for quality, this is where you will find it.

It's amazing that they offer $100 Napa Cabs for $30, or $60 Pinots for under $20. I love exceptional quality for a reasonable price tag, and that's exactly what Cameron Hughes is.

When it comes to enjoying delicious wine, at an affordable cost, I am all about that life.

Stripes

I've been a bit obsessed with stripes for as long as I can remember. Recently, the obsession has become very real. I have a lot of black and white striped tops in particular.

A few of my favorite stripes.

A few of my favorite jeans.

This is the designer I'm obsessing over at the moment.

What's your take on the striped trend?
