Marriott Birthday Getaway in Puerto Vallarta

Tropical Beach Getaway at the Marriott Puerto Vallarta

The Marriott created paradise, and paradise can be anywhere. In Marriott's case, there is a paradise in 7 cities: Aruba, Cancun, Curacao, Grand Cayman, Puerto Vallarta, St. Kitts, and St. Thomas. All incredible destinations and all truly paradise. I plan to visit all of the Marriott locations in every single city, but this time I had the pleasure of visiting Puerto Vallarta.

Marriott Puerto Vallarta reached out to me a few months ago, and I was ecstatic at the idea of going to this incredible property in Puerto Vallarta. After thinking about a time frame, I thought my birthday weekend would be the perfect timeframe. Celebrating 27 in Mexico? Sounds like a good plan to me!

While I experienced a similar airport scenario in Cancun, it still shocked me when we got outside of baggage claim at the Puerto Vallarta Airport. So many different businesses will try to solicit you. They scream and yell to get your attention, and they will go as far as come up to you and even touch you in some instances if they feel you have made eye contact. My word of advice is to book a driver beforehand or know you will be taking an Uber (no Lyft in PV unfortunately!) so you don't have to talk to anyone who will try to sell you a ridiculously priced ride to your hotel, expensive attractions and the likes.

As we arrived on property, we were greeted kindly by the staff and enjoyed speaking with various individuals. The Welcome Host, whose name is Ernesto, is one of the coolest people we have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Not only does he have an awesome title as "Welcome Host" but he has a personality of gold. He made everyone coming through the doors at the Marriott feel welcome, and super comfortable. It didn't matter if it was an older couple, teenagers, locals, etc. He made everyone feel at ease, and got to know each group of people and where they came from; this made him a great resource for all of our questions.

Once we checked into our room, we realized we would . be spending a lot of time in it because the view was insanely gorgeous. We were on the 4th floor, and we had the perfect ocean view looking out at the water. Not only was the room well located with a great view, but all the amenities and immediate needs were easily accessible.

One thing I cannot recommend enough is that you absolutely need an ocean view. It's the perfect view before a long day, in the middle of the day and of course with an evening cocktail before dinner. This was one of our absolute favorite things. The foundation below turns off at night, and if you leave your door open, you can hear the ocean breeze as you sleep. It is definitely one of those things you have to enjoy and experience while in Puerto Vallarta. I am missing the sound of those waves lapping on the ocean, and to be honest, sleeping with that as background noise is unlike any other sleep.

If you like amenities, I recommend ordering some fruit and cheese, a bottle of wine or even some champagne depending on what you're looking to celebrate! Since I went for my birthday, the hotel completely spoiled me and brought something every single day. It was so unexpected and just overly kind, but I definitely loved the Cabernet Sauvignon from a town in Mexico. Whenever I go to new places, I love testing and eating like the locals do. It's one of the best ways to understand a new culture and enjoy its flavors.

When it came to service, every single staff member was kind and had a desire to help us have an incredible stay. Every server wanted to bring out the food quickly and offer their help when we were deciding on items to try. Not to mention, all the food was incredibly tasty. There wasn't a single thing we didn't like! Our favorite was the guacamole and tequila from the Tequila and Ceviche Bar, which is the first restaurant you see as you walk into the property.

When we went down to the beach, we were greeted by a staff member who brought us towels to ensure we had them before making our way to the sand.

The cleaning staff was also wonderful, and left fun notes and a flower in our room. We ended up leaving a note for her too. Not to mention the room had various treats each day, making it hard for us to leave the room.

The amenities were incredible inside the room, as well as throughout the resort. We had everything we needed, so we didn't have to call the front desk to bring anything additional.

The entire property was gorgeous, and there were so many activities we could buy right on the property. The concierge and the staff by the pool towels could help with booking jet-skis, a sunset cruise and much more.

One of the days, we decided to head to town to explore a little bit. We were blown away by the beauty of Puerto Vallarta, and I made it my mission to get a photo from the top of the hill so I could get some of the incredible scenery behind me. After we made it to the top, we were sweating (not going to lie) and I realized that humid weather is difficult in a whole other way. In Arizona, we have that dry heat but the humidity in tropical destinations is so different. Nonetheless, the photo was well worth it and it was good exercise.

Enjoying the Marriott Puerto Vallarta

We even had the chance to hit the poolside bar downstairs, which happened to serve its cocktails in coconuts. A tourist's tropical dream! Not only was the drink super strong, but it was the cutest design I had ever seen. I loved how it was a piece of art, and the bartender really made it a point to make the cutest face. He even went to pick the pink flower from a poolside plant. It was cool!

Si alcohol para mi. It is vacation after all!

Walking Along the Beach in Puerto Vallarta

Have you added Puerto Vallarta to your bucket list?

¿Has agregado Puerto Vallarta a tu lista de deseos?

This is a paid for blog mention for Simplehuman. As always, all thoughts and opinions are honest and my own.

One thing I will mention is that while I love traveling all over the world, it is definitely hard sometimes when I can't take all my in-shower essentials. Simplehuman has made my life so much easier throughout the house, including my shower! All my favorite products which I reach for every time I get in the shower, are so easily accessible.

One of my favorite face cleansers is from Tula (use the code ADAATUDE for 20% their site!) Since my CVS campaign, I have been loving Apothecare Essentials shampoo and conditioner. I didn't know about the brand before it showed up in a PR package, but it's marvelous due to the fact that it is so moisturizing. Did I mention it smells fantastic too? For days I want a deeper clean, I grab my Nexxus shampoo. Love the smell of that one too and how shiny it makes my hair!

Recently I switched from aluminum based deodorant to organic and natural with Schmidt's. That includes toothpaste. While I don't use this natural toothpaste every single day, I grab it if I'm brushing my teeth in the shower. Bath bombs are my favorite, especially when they're colored since they'll turn the water a fun color. Not to mention you need a good mask in there, to rock while you're shaving and shampooing your hair.

Luckily keeping all the goods has been so easy with this shower caddy.  The levels are adjustable, including the space between the racks, making this so versatile. I fit everything I need (and more) on this shower caddy plus it's rust-proof.

Have you tried anything from Simplehuman?
