How to Change Outfits from Day to Night

April 23, 2018

OOTD to OOTN

To me, the idea of switching a daytime look to night time, is quintessential of busy city life. People work for 8-10 hours a day, and then they want to meet their significant other or friends for drinks and dinner. There's got to be an easy way to transition from your corporate day job look, into that fun ready for some cocktails look, with friends and loved ones. It's got to be pretty quick too, right? You don't want to miss any time with your friends after work, so it can't be a full change. It has to take 5 minutes. How do I do it? Easy!

I start with a white dress, add one of my simple (yet absolutely gorgeous!) Katie Dean necklaces, a pair of strappy nude heels (very business chic) and throw on a pink jacket to complete the look. To me, this screams daytime. While this dress may not be everyone's cup of tea for work, it is an outfit I would wear to a job in Los Angeles or New York City. While I understand some offices are more conservative, others are much more laxed and you can comfortably wear a lot of different things. Finding the perfect white dress is up to you, but I included the ones I'm rocking in these shots! White dresses are perfect for many occasions, so it's a multi-occasion steal.

Now when it comes to switching it up for the night time, I went for some stiletto over the knee boots and a darker more sturdy jacket for the cooler weather. This black jacket with the buttons down the middle has been my go-to for some of my coldest nights in Iceland, Norway and New York City. When we shot this outfit, it was exactly 20 degrees, and for a desert girl, I legitimately thought I was going to die from the cold. Julia, my photographer, said it was time to take off my jacket and I just did not want to!

I'm sure you've quickly changed an outfit from daytime to nighttime. What are your favorite accessories to switch out throughout the day? I think OTK boots and a thicker stylish coat are the best way to switch it up and prep your outfit for the evening.

How do you transition from day to night?
