21 Best Skincare Products for Dry Skin

21 Best Skincare Products for Dry Skin

April 7, 2020

Once I turned 25, my skin started to dry up day after day. I live in Arizona, which is a dry climate all year round so not only does age have a factor, but so does the climate you live in day to day. Whenever I visit humid destinations, I notice my skin is so much more hydrated. It’s interesting because oily skin is actually dehydrated and your body is trying to compensate for the lack of hydration, by producing its own oils. That’s why when you’re a young buck (looking at you Gen Z) your skin is a bit oilier. But for us, over 25+ folks we deal with a lot of dryness. I will say that dryness does age the skin faster, so it's important to stay hydrated over time. Let's address.

This is a flat lay of the best skincare products which are perfect for dry skin.

Cleansers

Using a hydrating cleanser is key  because you don’t want to over dry already dehydrated skin. If you tend to wear makeup most days, a makeup cleansing balm is going to be key for you because it is super hydrating but also gets the majority of that top layer of makeup off the skin.

FARMACY Green Clean Makeup Removing Cleansing Balm

This balm melts the most intense and thick of makeup, really easily. When it comes to the additional benefit of this particular cleansing balm, the turmeric and moringa extract helps to remove impurities, sunscreen residue, and fight the effects of pollution.

Drunk Elephant Makeup Melting Butter Cleanser

This cleanser is so hydrating it almost just melts the makeup away, in just a few seconds.

Drunk Elephant Jelly Cleanser

When it comes to a cleanser, this is very gentle and doesn't strip the skin while cleansing thoroughly and getting deep inside the pores. This removes makeup, oil, all pollution, and other elements from the day. Not to mention it's not irritating and doesn't cause skin to get red and dry. It's hydrating, well balanced and feels cleansing without the overly drying effect.

Serums

When it comes to serum, these are my favorites to apply to the skin because they're basically medicine. You find serums for anti-aging, pore reduction, brightening, hydrating and so much more. These are the skincare products that actually correct, improve and reconfigure the skin, especially over time.

Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate

This is the holy grail of skincare products. It helps target dryness, dullness, and uneven texture. Waking up in the morning after using a few drops of this is like waking up with a brand new face in all honesty. Not to mention it really helps to calm the skin.

Drunk Elephant B-Hydra™ Intensive Hydration Serum

When it comes to hydration, you typically want something with hyaluronic acid or hydration (in various forms.) This serum gives an intense boost of hydration which is exactly what someone with dry skin needs. This level of hydration replenishes complexion and improves the look of skin texture and tone. It looks smoother, softer and more plump over time, so it's important to use this product over time.

SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic

Quite possibly my favorite skincare product of all, this C + E acid makes a world of difference on the skin. Without it, my skin is trash the next morning. With it, it has clearly had a huge dose of vitamin C. Just like vitamin C nourishes the body, it really nourishes skin like you wouldn't believe. This is a perfect addition to any and all skin types. Vitamin C is key.

cleen beauty Vitamin C Papaya Glow Serum

The most affordable, high quality vitamin C serum you can find on the market. This is a thin almost water-like serum that does wonders to the skin. We go through bottles of this stuff (both Aaron & I love it) and with the amazing price tag, this is a no brainer to add to your skincare routine.

Good Molecules Hyaluronic Acid Serum

This is one of the more "niche" based brands and while I don't use this serum everyday, every time I do I realize how special Good Molecules is. If you're able to get your hands on a few of their products, I do recommend.

Caviar and Cashmere Regenerating Serum

The regenerating serum is excellent when it comes to combatting daily UV damage on the regular. Not to mention it helps with neutralizing free radicals and environmental stressors, while preventing the look of collagen breakdown. This serum basically does what a vitamin C serum does (but does it x 2) so I truthfully cannot recommend it enough.

Treatments

Fresh Rose Face Mask

When it comes to rose, it always helps to sooth and calm skin overall. This is a super hydrating mask that helps to soothe and tone the skin with each use. It really does help with overall plumpness and softness, which is so important (especially before a self tan session.)

DDG Peel Pads

If you've been around for even a minute, you know these peel pads are my favorite way to exfoliate. They are my saving grace and my favorite skincare product of all. When it comes to the peel pads, I had to show you the main ingredient breakdown so you understand how magical these pads really are (this is from the website):

- Glycolic Acid (AHA): Reduces visible signs of aging.

- Salicylic Acid (BHA): Reduces pore blockages and supports natural collagen.

- Lactic Acid (AHA): A naturally occurring alpha hydroxy acid that supports natural cell renewal.

I use these peel pads 3-4 times a week, and it keeps my skin exfoliated, bright and less dull and dry. This is the star product in my day to day routine. I prefer to use them at night, since using in the daytime makes your skin even more sensitive to the sun's rays.

Oils

Wander Beauty Hydrating Ampoule

When it comes to hydration, everyone always talks about hyaluronic acid. Lucky for you this ampoule oil base has hyaluronic acid in it which will help promote more hydration in the skin. I use this ampoule and the face oil from Wander Beauty, almost interchangeably, because I find the effects are similar and both products are phenomenal when it comes to hydration and overall skin health.

Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Antioxidant Face Oil

If it came to picking one facial oil for the rest of time, I would always pick Drunk Elephant's. Not only does it have the best effect on my skin, but it lasts forever so the price tag is justified. Not to mention, this oil helps with fine lines, wrinkles, dryness, dullness and uneven texture so you're getting the obvious hydration but it's also helping with a slew of other things too.

Kora Organics Noni Glow Face Oil

When it comes to a face oil, this is definitely a luxurious formulation. I find this is ideal underneath makeup because it gives a gorgeous glow that looks especially amazing underneath extremely thick makeup. Not to mention it can be used in the evning time too, but I like to go in with something thicker (Drunk Elephant's is my go-to.)

Moisturizers

Charlotte Tilbury Charlotte's Magic Night Cream

Any evening I've used this night cream, my fiancé has unknowingly complimented my skin. It's clearly a super booster, when it comes to hydration and all the positive ingredients. Since I know it makes an immediate difference overnightI use it in several times a week to keep up with the hydration levels. Since it is pricey, I like to go in with a small amount each time (sometimes you have to make these products last ya know!)

DDG Stress Repair Face Cream with Niacinamide

This cream contains niacinamide (B3), superfoods, and adaptogens which all help to treat visible signs of stress-induced aging. When it comes to living in a highly polluted place (think LA or NYC) this stress line is perfect because you don't realize how toxic just going outside each day is. Especially when you've got various toxins (diet, water consumption, etc) also being a major factor. Pollution is sort of that silent toxin that sometimes we don't really think about, so this cream helps to combat a bit of that.

Caviar and Cashmere Hydraluxe Cream

A luxe brand through and through, and this cream is no exception. It just feels so moisturizing as soon as it touches your skin. Not to mention it really makes a difference in just a few nights. Since it is a thicker consistency, I prefer to use this at night, but it could definitely go well under makeup since it blends into the skin beautifully. Truly this helps with suppleness, smoothness and plumping up the skin, so you just can't go wrong adding this into your routine.

Wander Beauty Brightening Cream

This is the perfect combination of makeup and skincare, because the brightening piece of the cream helps to give a healthy glow to skin. However the cream piece is super hydrating and makes a big difference on the skin. It's a beautiful combination of the two worlds honesty. What I've loved most about Wander Beauty is their impeccable detail to the amazing ingredients amidst products.

In this cream, you'll find:

Camellia Japonica Flower Extract which acts as an excellent source of antioxidants, vitamins, phytosqualene, and omega-6 fatty acids.

Blackberry Fruit Extract contains antioxidants like anthocyanins to help fight free-radical damage.

Cranberry Fruit Extract has vitamins A and C to support skin's radiance, which is so important for having that youthful healthy glow to the skin (24/7.)

As soon as I apply this during the day, my skin feels revived and rejuvenated. Not to mention the rest of my makeup glides on smoothly after this cream.

Sunscreen

SUPERGOOP! PLAY Everyday Lotion SPF 50 with Sunflower Extract

This is a super blendable formulation that's not greasy in the slightest, and helps to protect the skin. It has a calming effect on the skin and I've personally noticed it helps to reduce the redness. Something about this formulation also makes it the perfect primer consistency too, since makeup tends to stick to it so well.

Drunk Elephant Umbra Tinte™ Physical Daily Defense Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 30

I'm a sucker for Drunk Elephant, but even more so, I'm a sucker for a tinted sunscreen. Sometimes the super white, thick sunscreens have a hard time blending in, so when you can get a little color and the sun protection, it is a match made in heaven. This particular sunscreen is 20% zinc oxide, and you know I'm a huge advocate for zinc because zinc actually reflects the sun's rays off your skin. It's the strongest form of protection, so I cannot recommend zinc enough (in general) but with this tint, it is the most effective, powerful and also blendable formulation. Must have in your beauty arsenal!

Lips

Mario Badescu Rose Lip Balm

If you're looking for a super affordable, hydrating lip balm ($8) this is IT. Truthfully this lip balm is definitely the best one I've used in years. Formulated with Cocoa Butter, Coconut Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, and antioxidant Vitamin E so it is hydrating and makes a big difference with the softness and hydration of the lips.

Wander Beauty Lip Retreat

This lip treatment is just so hydrating, and is definitely an oil. The difference is that it packs a punch when it comes to color. When we discuss the breakdown of ingredients, there's a lot of hydrating items in there.

Rosa canina fruit oil helps provide essential fatty acids, vitamin A, provitamin E, and antioxidants. All of these ingredients together help to promote healthier-feeling lips. You can feel that as soon as you've applied the product, it really makes a  big different on hydration levels. Now when it comes to apricot kernel oil, it helps to provide gamma linoleic acid. This acid will help firm and tone the look of skin. Not to mention, vitamins A and E help to soothe. Finally avocado oil is nice and consumed in fatty acids, vitamin E, and lecithin to moisturize the skin.

I have these in almost every single shade because you need all the colors to brighten your way and keep the lips super hydrating. If you've never tried one of these lip oils, you need at least one.

If you have dry skin, what's your saving grace?
