3 Easy Summer Cocktails
Nothing reminds me more of summer time than a light refreshing cocktail. Anyone else? I know it's not just me, so let's jump into a few quick (seriously super super easy) recipes that will knock your socks off and keep you refreshed.
Images of the martini + daiquiri were taken by my friend Kyla. All edits were made by me.
The Peach Martini
A light refreshing take on the traditional martini. Rather than olives and blue cheese, we're going to take a traditional summer fruit (peaches) and add them into then mix. This is a slow sipper and not necessarily one you'd throw back, but it's so easy to make. While peach schnapps is better, most of us don't have that in our cupboards whereas orange liqueur is definitely more of a staple, which is why I included that one.
▢ 1 1/2 ounces vodka
▢ 1 ounce orange liqueur (peach schnapps is better if you have it)
▢ half a squeezed lime
▢ half a squeezed peach
▢ splash of agave
Take all the ingredients, throw them together into a shaker. Add lots of ice and shake for 20-30 seconds. Strain into a martini glass. Enjoy!
The Frozen Daiquiri
Aaron loves a frozen Daiquiri, and I totally see why. When there's enough ice (it's got to be just right) it is the perfect slushy style drink to sip on for a while.
▢ 1 1/2 ounces light rum
▢ 1 ounce orange liqueur
▢ a squeezed lime
▢ fruit of your choice (strawberries, mango, pineapple)
▢ 1 teaspoon of agave
▢ lots of ice
Take all the ingredients, throw them together into a blender. Make sure there's enough ice to make the consistency almost like that of a slushy. If it's too thin, add more ice into round 2 of blending. Sip sip hooray!
The Margarita on the Rocks
In terms of a cocktail I enjoy, a fresh margarita on the rocks is it for me. Light, so refreshing and has a nice balanced flavor. If I don't add salt to the rims, it's a bit of Tajín and it's just the perfect flavor to sip on for an hour or two.
▢ 1 1/2 ounces tequila
▢ 1/2 ounce orange liqueur
▢ a squeezed lime (+ lime for garnish)
▢ 1 teaspoon of agave
In a mixing glass, start with the agave on the bottom and then squeeze in the full lime. Add your tequila and orange liqueur, along with a few ice cubes. Shake the drink and pour over a large ice cube and you're ready to be poolside. Cheers!
