3 Pieces of Furniture We Needed in Our Nursery

October 31, 2022

This post is in partnership with babyletto. Our crib, dress and changing station were gifted to us. All opinions remain honest and my own.

When it comes to our nursery, we’ve been thrilled with the layout but also the usability of every piece. It’s minimalistic, but every piece of furniture is useful and something we’d (my husband and I both) recommend for every new family due to the ability to make newborn life easier.

3-in-1 Convertible Storage Crib with Toddler Bed Conversion Kit

After going through multiple cribs and reading through benefits, cleanliness, and convertibility, we decided that babyletto was going to be the best option for us. Specifically the Bento style because it matches our house’s aesthetic, but also fits right into the nursery with the existing white furniture. Truthfully though, the biggest selling point for this crib was its convertible factor, which really just means you’re getting the best bang for your buck because it’s going to be handy for several years.

Lilah was born 21 inches long, and you can use the crib portion until the baby is 35 inches long which is anywhere up until the 2-3 year mark. For the toddler crib, your child can be up to 50 pounds, which is anywhere between 6-8 years old. I used these general averages.

Pure Core Crib Mattress

The other element that was important to us was getting a clean mattress to match the crib. With babyletto’s mattress, it’s clear that it is clean and not filled with flammable ingredients and chemicals. It is GREENGUARD Gold Certified, hypoallergenic, waterproof and water repellant making it the best long-term option.

What does GREENGUARD Gold Certified mean?

It means the mattress is tested for over 10,000 chemical emissions and VOCs, undergoing rigorous scientific testing to meet some of the world's most stringent chemical emissions requirements.

Since we’ve been so adamant about clean beauty and household products, it only made sense to find the cleanest products for our baby. This is another reason babyletto was top of our list because we wanted quality products, but also the conscientiousness of the brand to have clean mattresses and reduction of chemicals that could harm our baby’s endocrine systems (amidst other things) was a huge plus in comparison to most other brands selling cribs, mattresses, and nursery furniture. Major kudos have to go to babyletto because it is unique to be on the cleaner side when it comes to these items, but also to be transparent about them. Win, win.

Bento 3-Drawer Dresser with Removable Changing Tray in White

In my personal opinion, this is the most helpful piece of furniture because we have to change diapers constantly. Literally anywhere from 10-15 times a day so it’s important to be able to change diapers quickly and conveniently. When it comes down to it, having a changing tray on the dresser is perfect but it is also the perfect height. Making it a quick and easy change, especially since the dresser is right next to the crib and part of waking Lilah up but also putting her down to sleep..

When it comes to the removable changing tray on top, it is very easy to attach to the top of the dresser and can easily be removed if it’s no longer being used. Since we’ll be changing diapers for the foreseeable future, it is super helpful. There’s also a belt that can be put around the baby once they get fussy and start trying to turn over more. This is definitely going to be needed for Lilah because she’s already a little squirmy worm, so we’ll likely need to buckle her in so she doesn’t roll off the changing tray.

When it comes down to it, we choose the pieces that made the most sense for our home and lifestyle. babyletto was our favorite option due to the style, quality, and cleanliness. After using all the pieces for almost two months, we are definitely still fans of the brands and would love to expand the collection long-term given the reliability of the pieces.
