3 Reasons to Use Walmart’s Online Grocery Pickup Services

When it comes to the grocery store, it’s not my favorite task but it’s also not my least favorite. However, I do feel like I waste a lot of time going up and down the aisles every time trying to find one ingredients or getting confused and lost along the way. If I don’t have a super extensive list, it seems like I will just get completely sidetracked and end up with 10 desserts in the cart, and nothing of substance to eat. Not to mention, I’m checking my emails and texting the Mr all while I try to figure out why I’m eating for the next 3-4 days. I also go to the grocery store 2-3 times a week because we’re not big grocery shoppers in the sense that we don’t spend $200+ on a single trip. Since it’s just us two, we like to make multiple smaller trips so none of the food goes bad. If we had a bigger family, we’d definitely be stocking up more but since most of the groceries are fruits, vegetables, and meat, we do like to get it fresh. After using this Walmart Online Grocery Pickup service once, I have to say I am 150% spoiled and never want to go to the grocery store again. It’s just unnecessary due to the time suck, having to walk up and down the aisles looking for something you probably won’t be able to find and it’s not effective. Time is money after all, so why not take advantage of a totally free service that Walmart created?

You go to the grocery site or download the Walmart online grocery pickup app, and start searching for groceries to add to your cart.

The beauty of building this grocery list is that you can do it anytime, in the comfort of your home or office. When it comes to flexibility, building your cart doesn’t have to be done in a certain amount of time. Most likely your items won’t run out, so there’s no dire need to get everything in the cart quickly. This makes the process more laxed and not stressed over time. Something when you don’t make the best grocery list in real life, you start to stress you’ll forget something or that you don’t have enough on the list. You can eliminate this piece when you have time and the flexibility to add and remove from your cart. If you’re super busy at your day job, this is the perfect thing to do throughout the day when you do have a few extra minutes (in between calls, bathroom breaks, etc.)

The beauty of Walmart’s pickup service is that once you turn on the app, and let them know you’re heading to the store, the app will alert the pickup store member that you’re on your way. This allows them to grab your bags from the refrigerators and know exactly when you pull into the pickup spots up front. As soon as we pulled up into a spot, the Walmart staff member came out with a shopping cart filled with all of our groceries.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone to the store with a full list in hand and forgotten an item or just plain blanked (it was on my list but I for some odd reason left the store before grabbing it.) When you send an order in, there’s multiple people making sure everything on your order is in the bags. Not to mention, the Walmart employee goes through the list with you (quickly mind you) to ensure everything is in the bags. This is so incredible for an organizational junkie like me. I am one of those people who usually knows where something is, but it would be a mess for someone else. We all have our vices okay?

Tip: One of the recipes I knew I wanted to make was stir fry. When I typed stir fry into the search bar, all the possible ingredients that could go in the stir fry popped up which was honestly so cool. This ensures you grab everything you may want in your recipe since the search knows that specific vegetables, sauce and noodles would go into the dish. This isn’t how the search works for all recipes, but with stir fry a lot of the ingredients that popped up (sauce and noodles for example) obviously had stir fry in their name. I genuinely think seeing the food on your device helps you remember more of the ingredients that will actually be in the recipe. Plus it’s easier to look up a recipe and make sure you account for all the ingredients when you’re shopping online in your comfort zone, versus being stressed and anxious looking all around a grocery store.

I got ingredients for 3 full dinner recipes which would also make enough to have leftovers for lunch the next day. Planning out all the ingredients was easy peasy and I had the cart filled in 30 minutes. Once I went to submit the order, I had the option to choose what time I wanted to do the pickup at my local Walmart. There were countless options, and I picked the time that worked best for me. 2 PM. Once I got into the car, I checked into the app and said I was on my way. The app calculate my drive time based on my current location, and as I pulled into my pickup spot up front, the Walmart employee ran out with the bags. He also gave Haley and I each a water bottle which was very thoughtful (it’s definitely an Arizona thing since we all drink a lot of water on these hot days.) He had already bagged everything up, and he quickly filled up my trunk. Voila, we were on our way back with groceries in hand to unbag everything and put it away.

I can confidently say this was super easy, and extremely convenient. If you’re in the office all day, and don’t want to spend another 1-2 hours scouring through a grocery store, do it little by little throughout the day and then submit my cart and pick it up on your way home from work. This way your ingredients are fresh and you can go into unbagging and making dinner. For us to have 3 dinners + 3 lunches and several other snacks (plus I got cat litter bags and razors) for under $75 is a total steal. Not to mention I was super impressed with Walmart’s selection of organic produce. We even found organic beef, and grass fed milk (for my cappuccinos) so it was truly a win all around. Highly recommend using this service. It’s easy to use, convenient, efficient and most importantly it’s 100% free!

Have you ever ordered your groceries online?

I am eating organic raspberries and starting to put away all the groceries from my Walmart Online Grocery Pickup.

I have never even heard of online grocery pickup, and now I feel like Ive been missing out on something all along!

so you can just place and order, go there and collect your order? I had no idea I could do that. I usually have food delivered to my house.

It’s great that Walmart has added such a convenient service for all shoppers! I would love to shop from them

That’s so wonderful that you’ve got such a possibility! Flexibility would be the main asset for me. Too bad there is no Walmart here in Poland! 🙂

That is cool that they give you some water. I have only picked up items that I have ordered online so need to try the grocceries.

I never really saw what the attraction was to online grocery shopping/pickup…but I get it. I do forget things all the time, even when they are on my list and I am sure this would help keep me better organized.

I’ve heard about this! I might have to try it out when I want to avoid people. We have a Walmart 5 minutes away!

Nope, this is one I haven’t tried yet, either Walmart (which we don’t have any close to us anyway) or our local stores. But it does sound super convenient!

This is so amazing ideas and this service looks really convenient. I am really glad to know about this thanks so much!

It’s nice that supermarkets do this so that consumers have a choice. But honestly, I still prefer going to the store. It’s like therapy for me,
