5 Ways to Relax After a Long Day

how to unwind

Back in the day when I had a corporate job, blogging career, and I was training for a marathon, I felt like I had to learn quickly how to unwind after a long day. When it comes to all of these things but also friendships, a fiancé and keeping up with family, it definitely gets a bit tough. This is why I felt like sharing a few ways to unwind after a busy day. I'm sure whether you're juggling a hectic day job OR multitasking to the next degree, it may help you find more peace in your day.

My dress is my favorite pattern for spring. Who can ever have enough florals!? Shoes match perfectly with these bright, fun colors. Bracelet is simply remarkable and so unique.

1. Do an activity you enjoy.

For me, this usually means being on Instagram and getting creative inspiration from the amazing accounts I follow. Their creativity always inspires me which makes me feel so much better. For others, this may be watching TV, playing a game, going for a walk, etc. Just find the activity that may occupy a bit of your mind and help you find a better more relaxed mood.

2. Enjoy some self care.

This includes filling that tub with soapy suds and diving into the bath for an hour. pour yourself a glass of wine, grab a good book and enjoy some R&R. I always like to do a full skincare routine, throw on a face mask, sip on wine and lay in the tub for a little while to catch my breath. Once you're done, your skin will not only look amazing but you'll be squeaky clean and ready to take on your list.

3. Go for a short walk.

I refrained from saying "exercise" or doing an intense workout because likely if your mind is super preoccupied, trying to get an intense work out in is NOT the one. For me, it's really hard to want to go do a high intensity workout when I've done a laundry list of things to do and my mind is racing 100 miles per minute. Going for a short walk can calm your mind, help you continue that to do list in your mind, but also give you some fresh air and get you out of the house. Since moving into our new home, it is one of the best ways for me to relax and calm down if I get into a fit from working or feel uninspired.

4. Treat yoself.

Whatever treating yourself means to you, just do it. I like to grab a glass of wine, maybe buy something on Amazon, a new pair of shoes, the list goes on and on. Often times we don't treat ourselves with the respect we 100% deserve, so I think it's important to do small things for yourself if you can. I'm not saying go out and buy a $2,000 hang bag every time you're feeling overwhelmed, but don't forget about getting yourself something nice once in a while.

5. Remember perspective.

Ever since I met Aaron, I learned about perspective. I can have a bitch ass attitude about something OR I can do my best to look on the bright side. It really depends on me and how I want to feel. This is super important with all things in life, but especially important if you are having a long day and need some time to unwind.

The most important thing to remember is that no matter what is stressing you out today, it will pass. Likely you won't remember this stress tomorrow.
