7 Belly Balms Worth the Money

September 6, 2022

Before I dive into my favorite belly balms, I want to make a kind mention that stretch marks cannot be prevented by the use of any product. They are genetic, and it depends on your skin type, family history, how big the baby gets, and a slew of other factors. Please make sure you're not expecting any of these products to remove or prevent stretch marks. It is not a realistic expectation, so I just want to be totally honest.

As you can imagine, I have literally every product on the planet at my disposal. Once I announced my pregnancy, I think I had 10-15 new stretch marks or cream coming weekly from various brands and PR agencies. With that said, I tried so many and these 7 have really stood out to me for their texture, consistency, hydration, and results. As always this is just a personal preference and you may hate half of these but I definitely think these are incredible.

One thing to keep in mind is that you can prevent itchiness and discomfort in that belly skin as it stretches, and keeping it hydrated will help soothe but it can help prevent worse damage especially as that skin continues to stretch and grow.

This belly butter is unscented, blends nicely into the skin and has a unique buttery consistency that’s both hydrating and soothing. Also a huge bonus is that there's no greasy feeling.

Because I believe less ingredients is always best, this formulation is key because it's vegan, phthalate free, cruelty free, non-GMO, gluten free, and alcohol free. It's also hypoallergenic, and it doesn't clog the pores and the ingredients are kept to a minimum. Cleaner formulas made this well are hard to come by, and I really love how this one feels even though there's no scent to it (I usually like a natural essential oil scent associated but there's no need) 4/5

Symbiome Skin Postbiomic Body Oil

When it comes to body oil, it can really be a hit or miss. This formulation is beautiful even with it being a bit thicker and slightly greasy. But it's slightly greasy in a good way. I know what you're thinking. Slightly greasy in a good way? Yes it's a thing when the formula feels like it's hydrating deep into the skin, but it's not making you feel like you're caking on heavy product. Not to mention the scent is lightweight and so earthy 4/5

This luxurious formula is made with six (6) ingredients:

Paubrasilia Echinata (Pau Brazil) Flower and Leaf Oil
Turnera Ulmifolia (Xanana) Flower and Leaf Oil
Isoamyl Laurate
Coffea Arabica (Green Coffee) Seed Oil
Croton Cajucara (Sanoma) Leaf Oil
Mauritia Flexuosa (Buriti) Fruit Oil

For a body butter, I always envision a thicker consistency that's more difficult to blend into the skin because of its richness. Something that feels more thick and buttery, and doesn't just blend in easily like an oil. This has that thicker consistency, like butter, but it blends so easily into skin. There's a light scent but the biggest callout is that the formula run all over the skin, feels just so soothing. With a mix of shea butter, avocado oil and vitamin E, it is the perfect concoction for every skin type. Pregnant or not 4/5

This is so good it’s almost gone. I need a re-up and I realized how much I loved this after I hit the bottom of the jar, which usually never happens with a butter of this size. It has a light geranium scent, with a super creamy consistency making it this lightweight irrestible formula which I clearly can't seem to get enough of. I will say I love applying this on more than just my belly (think dry spots like elbows, knees, etc.)

When it comes to this formula, it is a one in a million. There's a lot of incredible ingredients and science behind it. The key active, centella asiatica, has been clinically studied for its skin healing properties. It's also a great collagen enhancer which is key to having skin produce more collagen and then regenerating 5/5

Nemah Stretch Mark Cream

Most beautiful formula consistency and blends quickly into the skin. Their trademark ingredient, Vanistryl®, releases a compound engineered to reduce tension in the skin and promote regeneration. We love a scientific approach as well as studies that showcase the results. After running a study for 30 days, the brand found that consistent use of the cream made the skin softer, firmer, and even noticeably decreased the appearance of stretch marks. So basically I'll be bathing in this once baby Ada is here.

Another clean formula that's cruelty-free, vegan, dermatologist-tested, hypoallergenic with no synthetic fragrance. With the cutest packaging too 4/5

Hatch Gal Belly Oil

This formula has minimal ingredients (which we love) and it also has a unique quick dry element to it which I find so fascinating. It's almost like it's not an oil because of how quickly it absorbs into the skin, but it is super nourishing. I like this element to the formula because then you're not left slipping and sliding or ruining your clothes. It has a very light scent with all natural ingredients that give a nice dose of vitamins to the stretching skin 4/5

Sensible Organic Belly Balm

A thicker balm that has a mix of oil and cream making it a very unique consistency. This definitely reminds me more of a sticky balm that hydrates the driest of skin, and will fix flakiness or really rough dry patches. On the flip side, it does come off so sticky and gooey that it stains clothes with the oils and can definitely stick for long periods of time so it's ideal for a sports bra with underwear situation and definitely needs time to dry. But it oozes hydration, so take your pick. This might be the only one that's certified organic which gives it a boost even with the stickiness and greasier feel, but just like most of the others it is made clean without parabens, petroleum, phthalates, or synthetic fragrances 3.5/5

What's your favorite belly balm/cream/butter/oil?

Did my review of any of these trigger you to snag them?
