7 Steps to a K Beauty Routine
This post is in collaboration with and sponsored by iHerb.
What is K-beauty?
“K-Beauty is an umbrella term for skin-care products that are derived from South Korea. The fad gained popularity worldwide, especially in East Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia and the US and focuses on health, hydration and a preferred lack of pigment.” Wikipedia
Why is K-beauty so good?
When it comes down to it, Korean beauty has always been ahead of the curve. For example, by the time BB cream (beauty balm) came to the US, it had already been around in South Korea for a long time. The innovation that happens in South Korea is unlike any other. It’s quite frankly, while a lot of other nations take their research to Korea or produce their product there. Korean women have always had a want and need for skincare that is going to bring that youthful glow, but they also wanted the cleanest way possible to get it.
“Based on tradition, Koreans only used natural and harsh-free ingredients to create the clear, glowy, and natural-looking skin through multiple generations that made K-Beauty products better and so popular today. Natural Korean makeup can still be made today for people to try at home by making your very own face mask.” Sistar Cosmetics
When it comes to a skincare routine, I always like to start with a fresh face. This means I go in with a cleanser. The Radiant Seoul Beauty Cleansing Oil is infused with deep cleansing charcoal, which is known to help cleanse and extract dirt, oil and residue from deep inside the pores. It helps to remove makeup quickly, while also purifying the skin. Not to mention it has some calming green tea in it, which gives it a nice gentle effect on the skin. Whenever I think of a good cleanser for all skin types, I think a cleansing oil or something more hydrating, is always the key to giving skin that boost of hydration it needs. This is a lightweight oil consistency which is not only effective, but works quickly and effectively to get the makeup off.
When it comes to giving your skin a little extra TLC, a mask is the best way to make that happen. With the Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask, the skin is feeling tight and reduces the size of pores. Leaving it on for 10-15 minutes makes it a quick process, and this mask starts to bubble when you wash it off. In comparison to other clay masks, this one comes on and off the skin. There is a hydrating element to the mask that really helps apply it properly, but also removes it from the skin in a seamless way. Usually when you apply a clay mask, it dries as soon as you apply and hardens quickly.
Now an easy way to get extra moisture, vitamins and minerals to the skin is to do a sheet mask. It’s literally the easiest way to mult-task (we love multitasking over here). The Radiant Seoul Balancing Charcoal Sheet Mask
Mediheal Collagen Essential Lifting & Firming Mask was an excellent add to the self care routine. The masks are Hydrolyzed collagen, hydrolyzed elastin and acetyl hexapeptide-8 help lift and revitalize skin and prevent dryness by forming a protective layer. Ultrafine mask contours to face like a second skin, delivering collagen essence evenly for maximum effectiveness.
Holika Holika, Moisturizing Petit BB with SPF 30, is a lightweight medium coverage beauty balm. This is a super hydrating formulation and the hyaluronic ingredients help to moisturize the skin.
Radiant Seoul Balancing Charcoal Sheet Mask is a great way to cleanse deep in the pores. In addition, probiotic fermentations made with Streptococcus Thermophilus help to increase skin ceramide levels which nourish and balance the skin.
You know I love serums. They are my favorite part of a skincare routine because they are the main medicine for the skin. Always remember to press the serums gently and firmly into the skin to get them as far into the skin as you can.
Elizavecca Green Piggy Collagen Jelly Pack is a very unique product. It’s a jelly, and it applies beautifully to the skin. Lightweight and after a few blends into the skin, it just soaks into the skin beautifully. This is typically what I apply first since I love the cooling sensation and how beautifully it blends.
Some By Mi Galactomyces Pure Vitamin C Glow Serum is one of my favorite serums. You know I love vitamin C, and I find it is the most effective in the AM. When it comes to the ingredients in this serum, it has pure vitamin C, 10 vitamins and 75% Galactomyces. This formulation helps to improve skin texture, lessens wrinkles, firms skin, brightens and smoothes.
Dear Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop is an excellent serum with multiple benefits. Since I love vitamin C so much, I wanted to find two different formulations. This one is a bit more moisturizing and has a somewhat oily consistency to it. This formula is a hybrid of 5% L-Ascorbic acid and Centella Asiatica extract, which helps to stimulate collagen production (hello plumpness and bright skin.) Not to mention, this also helps to improve skin tones and texture.
Radiant Seoul, Revitalizing Youth Protect Serum is a great all in one. We love all an in one. This is an anti-aging formulation that includes vitamin C, HA, caviar, peptides & fruit extracts which helps to improve the appearance of skin and firmness. In addition, it helps to brighten the skin.
Keeping the skin hydrated, especially as we enter the cooler months of the year, is going to be so key.
Radiant Seoul, Brightening Moisturizing Cream is the perfect concoction for moisturizer. The combination of Niacinamide, Shea Butter & Adenosine helps to enhance the brightness of the skin, as well as the moisture. Finally this formula helps to lessen dark spots.
When it comes to a great consistency, it’s so important to find a good formulation for the skin.
We love a good multitasker around here, and honestly you should too. With my love for lightweight foundation options, I dove into a few different items on iHerb because a girl loves options. Am I right? Or am I right? When it comes down to a BB cream (beauty balm) or a tinted balm of some sort for coverage, I chose three options.
Enough Moisture Foundation is a moisturizing foundation, and the bonus is that it has SPF 15. The unique element to this moisture foundation is that it contains collagen, which is a hot ingredient at the moment. After a few hours of this moisture foundation, my skin feels nice and hydrated but it looks beautiful. It’s a nice natural dewy glow, that enhances my skin and gets me an incredible amount of compliments.
Missha, M Perfect Cover B.B Cream is another option which has SPF 42. This formulation helps to brighten skin tone, address wrinkles, prevent signs of aging and heal blemishes. The coverage from this product is excellent.
Yadah, Be My Tint Blush in the shade wannabe pink is the perfect addition to the routine for lips and cheeks. I love multitasking. This formulation has Cupuacu Seed Butter, Sunflower Seed Oil and Jojoba Seed Oil. This explains why the product is super hydrating.
After using these products for the last couple of weeks (Aaron and I both) we see a noticeable difference in the skin. The products are thinner and absorb into the skin beautifully. The formulations are unique (take the collagen jelly for example) but there’s a fun element to them. Unique formulations show the innovation of a lot of the Korean products, and I personally have trouble finding K-beauty in one place. For example, there are some Korean brands available on major beauty retailers but to find so many incredible brands in one place, is really what makes iHerb special. If you’ve been looking to try a plethora of products, the most innovative of their kind, this is definitely where you can find them all.
Have you tried any Korean beauty products?
