Behind the Scenes of Emsculpt

Behind the Scenes of Emsculpt

September 3, 2019

This post is in collaboration with and sponsored by, BTL Aesthetics.

Over the years, I’ve had a lot of different relationships when it comes to working out, my diet and my overall love for my body. Because I’ve become a human guinea pig through the process of blogging and being online, I have come to find that it is really important to know what options we have in the medical industry. I’ve been dabbling in a lot of non-invasive body contouring services over the last year and a half, mainly to understand and know more about the options so I can speak intelligently to them with all of you. Since I’ve personally tried so many treatments, I do feel like I've become somewhat of a patient expert when it comes to body contouring. When looking into different body contouring treatments, there aren’t a lot of people who share various treatments and can breakdown what makes a specific treatment standout. I love being a resource and being able to give you the real on what’s out there! I’m so excited to be able to share my experiences with various treatments and tell you about the latest, EMSCULPT.

The goal of EMSCULPT is to tone the muscles of the area being treated, in order to give more toned and defined results. Many people tend to want this    in the abdomen area because one 30 minute treatment is the equivalent of 20,000 sit-ups. Could you imagine doing 20,000 sit-ups? That could take a while. A very long while in fact.

What is EMSCULPT?

Let’s actually dive into the specifics of what the treatment is, so you’re in the know. EMSCULPT is the first and only non-invasive body shaping procedure that builds muscle and sculpts the body. It is FDA-cleared and is meant to help with strengthening, toning and firming of the abdomen, buttocks, thighs, arms, and calves. Throughout my treatments, we’ve focused on the abdomen because that always seems to be a problematic area for me. However, after making some really large lifestyle changes, it is something that I’ve seen the benefits from in only a few treatments.

Through these treatments (usually sold as a set of 4 from your local medical spa), the area will become tighter, more firm with much more definition. Realistically you would have done 80,000 sit-ups in a short period of time, so that area is destined to be toned because that is such a high percentage of repeated contractions in the same muscles. We know through repetitions at the gym and repetitions in workouts that we tone and build muscle by doing specific motions over and over again. Without that repetition, it is nearly impossible to tone the body.

The technology behind EMSCULPT utilizes HIFEM magnetic field technology to induce approximately 20,000 supramaximal muscle contractions per session to strengthen and build muscle, so the idea here is that the muscles are being forced to contract and move almost as if you were doing sit-ups.

This is a view of the back of me receiving my Emsculpt treatment.

My Experience

Contour Medical, located in Gilbert Arizona, is not only the best medical spa I’ve ever been to, but I honestly cannot recommend a better place to get body treatments done. Something I’ve realized through this experience is that a lot of people trust their local providers, and sometimes it really is worth it to drive a little further away to find a better medical spa.

I had 4 treatments done over the course of 2 weeks. On my first appointment, we talked about my concerns and problem areas and took “before” photos. Contour Medical Center really made me feel at ease and was extremely accommodating throughout my treatments.

After this was done, we dove right into it. I really wasn’t sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was. They adjusted the machine over my abdomen, and I just laid there while the machine did its thing.

Since the treatment is quick, I usually scheduled in the mornings. I was always in and out of the office in less than an hour, and there was no downtime so I was able to carry on with the day. I did feel a little bit of soreness like you would after any abdominal workout, but it was 100% bearable.

Is It Painful?

This was my biggest concern going into the treatment because honestly, my pain tolerance is very low because I am just so incredibly sensitive. I’ve tried other body contouring treatments in the past that were painful, but fortunately to my surprise, EMSCULPT was easy and pretty painless. It feels like how you would on your 50th sit up, a little bit of a burn, but in a good way. It is strange to feel that way when you’re just laying on the table, letting the machine do all the work for you!

Where Did I Go?

I truly can’t say enough about Contour Medical Center, in Gilbert Arizona, it has quickly become one of my favorite medical spas. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable, timely, welcoming, and FUN. It can be nerve wracking to have photos taken of areas where you’d like to see improvement, and weird to strip down in front of unfamiliar faces, but they made me feel comfortable and confident. I truly looked forward to every appointment, despite the commute, to see them. They are the kind of people who really want to know when they ask, How are you? I’m very grateful to have been able to work with them and see the results I have. I’ve been to various different medical spas, and I feel like I’ve learned a lot from each one.

Thinking about Body Contouring?

I always recommend asking questions and setting up a consult prior to any treatment. Some doctors may push you into doing treatment that day, but don’t do anything you feel the slightest bit uncomfortable about. Personally, I like consults and hearing an honest opinion from the doctor. Remember at the end of the day, these doctors are working for you, so hire or fire where you see fit. Contour Medical was a total hire for me because I sincerely felt they were recommending treatments they would recommend to their mother. Do your research when looking for a provider!

That’s something totally new for me! I’d love to try it out in the future to make my body look even better! 🙂

I didn’t know there were things like these available in the market. Its baffling how 30 minutes of this equals 20000 sit ups. I mean, woah! But I’m not sure if I’d do it, to be honest. Thanks for the knowledge on this!!

I can tolerate pain but i am also afraid of any pain for some treatment. Not aware of this kind of procedure that i am curious about it. Makes me want to google more about it.

I didn’t find it painful at all; it’s an interesting payment to be honest and some compare it to minimal contractions. Since I’ve never been pregnant before, I’m not sure what that is like but that’s the comparison women who had kids gave me before my treatment x

I heard amazing things about this one. Many are so hooked about it because the results are great. Love to hear that it isn’t painful to use.

This is my first time to read abut this procedure, I want tor ead more about this and see how it irks for others aside from you.

I am all about non-invasive since I don’t really want needles and tubes going in, since I’m squeamish in all honesty. This was completely doable and virtually pain free especially in comparison to other body contouring treatments I’ve tested! x

This looks amazing. I like that it is non-invasive and pain free. I wonder if they have emscuplting in my area. I could use a little extra help in some areas of my body.

This looks so cool! I have never heard of this treatment before but will definitely look more into now- great post!
