How to Build a Wedding Website

May 3, 2017

GoDaddy's GoCentral Website Builder

In case you haven't noticed from my Instagram, I've been partaking in a lot of wedding content. I love weddings, and everything about them. The love that gets two people together, and the entire family coming together to celebrate their love. The flowers (I am obsessed with flowers) and of course the dancing, food, and all the drinks! What's there not to love about weddings? Am I right? Or am I right?

In my day job, I work with destination websites using a proprietary CMS that holds all the content and widgets on their website. The platform is very intuitive, and makes a lot of sense as you building out pages. I am slowly becoming a WordPress guru too and ever since I switched from Blogger to WordPress, I really have more fun building each blog post and using the various content widgets. While I wouldn't say I'm an expert at building content on websites, blog posts, etc. I do have a bit of experience when it comes down to it, and I can tell when certain content management systems are intuitive or just don't flow well with the user.

Because I've been focusing on wedding content, I thought it would be awesome for me to bring two things I really love, together. Websites and weddings.

When I think about it though, weddings come and go quickly. The actual wedding is only one day. With websites, eNewsletters and all the awesome technology available these days, it's nice to build anticipation and excitement for the big day to make the entire event last a lot longer!

When I went through GoDaddy's website builder application, GoCentral, I realized it has everything I would need to build an incredible wedding site.

When I first set up my account in GoCentral, I specified what type of site I wanted to build. All I typed in was weddings, and the entire layout builder evolved into only showing me wedding specific layouts and wedding specific options. That was super cool, and clearly shows that GoCentral is dynamic, and can alter based on the specific topic at hand. I then choose a layout, and was able to specify every piece of content on the page. For example, I could choose my specific header layout, and then I could select the information I wanted to share.

The selection of layouts, and then the specific info was so easy to navigate. As I moved around from widget to widget, and set everything up, I realized I had built my wedding site in under an hour

There's also a contact form which helps me as the bride collect RSVPs, so I don't have to use another service or have people snail-mail me RSVP forms. With maps to help the guests navigate their way to the wedding, it makes it even easier to figure out where to park, and navigate Uber drivers.

You all know I absolutely love photos and there's a spot for galleries to display photos of the wedding prep for weeks leading up to the big day, and also a spot to put all the wedding day photos too!

All in all, I was super impressed with the layout builder and how easy it was to navigate through GoDaddy's GoCentral because when you're in the midst of wedding planning, you really don't have the time nor the patience to be messing around with every single detail. Building your wedding site through GoCentral will give you some time to breathe and actually enjoy planning your wedding!
