How to Build a Wedding Website

May 3, 2017

GoDaddy's GoCentral Website Builder

In case you haven't noticed from my Instagram, I've been partaking in a lot of wedding content. I love weddings, and everything about them. The love that gets two people together, and the entire family coming together to celebrate their love. The flowers (I am obsessed with flowers) and of course the dancing, food, and all the drinks! What's there not to love about weddings? Am I right? Or am I right?

In my day job, I work with destination websites using a proprietary CMS that holds all the content and widgets on their website. The platform is very intuitive, and makes a lot of sense as you building out pages. I am slowly becoming a WordPress guru too and ever since I switched from Blogger to WordPress, I really have more fun building each blog post and using the various content widgets. While I wouldn't say I'm an expert at building content on websites, blog posts, etc. I do have a bit of experience when it comes down to it, and I can tell when certain content management systems are intuitive or just don't flow well with the user.

Because I've been focusing on wedding content, I thought it would be awesome for me to bring two things I really love, together. Websites and weddings.

When I think about it though, weddings come and go quickly. The actual wedding is only one day. With websites, eNewsletters and all the awesome technology available these days, it's nice to build anticipation and excitement for the big day to make the entire event last a lot longer!

When I went through GoDaddy's website builder application, GoCentral, I realized it has everything I would need to build an incredible wedding site.

When I first set up my account in GoCentral, I specified what type of site I wanted to build. All I typed in was weddings, and the entire layout builder evolved into only showing me wedding specific layouts and wedding specific options. That was super cool, and clearly shows that GoCentral is dynamic, and can alter based on the specific topic at hand. I then choose a layout, and was able to specify every piece of content on the page. For example, I could choose my specific header layout, and then I could select the information I wanted to share.

The selection of layouts, and then the specific info was so easy to navigate. As I moved around from widget to widget, and set everything up, I realized I had built my wedding site in under an hour

There's also a contact form which helps me as the bride collect RSVPs, so I don't have to use another service or have people snail-mail me RSVP forms. With maps to help the guests navigate their way to the wedding, it makes it even easier to figure out where to park, and navigate Uber drivers.

You all know I absolutely love photos and there's a spot for galleries to display photos of the wedding prep for weeks leading up to the big day, and also a spot to put all the wedding day photos too!

All in all, I was super impressed with the layout builder and how easy it was to navigate through GoDaddy's GoCentral because when you're in the midst of wedding planning, you really don't have the time nor the patience to be messing around with every single detail. Building your wedding site through GoCentral will give you some time to breathe and actually enjoy planning your wedding!

Oh how cool! I had never thought of building a wedding website, but I love how you detail the steps! My favorite part of a wedding website is the photos—I’m a sucker for wedding pics!

Wedding websites scare me… but that’s probably because I just never had one and have never really used one before. My best friend is getting married soon so I will have to see if they want one and use this guide to build it. I am the MOH.

Wedding websites make me want to get married all over again! So many great ideas that I never did!! Oh well I’ll save them for my daughter!

Aww! I wish I knew about this before because my friends JUST made a wedding website for their upcoming nuptials. No matter – I have a feeling more of my friends will be getting married so this would be a great option.

This is brilliant and helpful tips! I remember one of my friend really want to make a wedding website, she should know this.

This is so cool! I take hours, if not days, to create a catchy template for my blog. I will check GoDaddy’s GoCentral feature. It looks like this will be something I will totally love.

This is super cool! I know so many couples now a days are building websites for their big day to share their experience with family and friends!

I haven’t had time to check out GoCentral yet but I think it is going to be a great help in setting up a website. I am planning to start another blog and this time, I will take advantage of GoCentral.

This is such a great idea! I wish I would have thought about this when I was getting married. Such a great way to stay organized and display all your photos.

Having a website for your wedding is so cool! I never even knew that was a thing other than simple guestbook sites. It would be nice to look back on your wedding website in the years to follow.

This is such great information. I am seriously so in love with this. I need to share this blog post with my wedding photographer friends. <3

These are some great ideas and Godaddy is my favourite too for any kind of website. wedding website is something new and I didn’t even know about it when I got married.

This is a real original idea. Every bride-to-be needs some help in planning a wedding. A website dedicated to weddings would be really amazing and super helpful for them.

That is so awesome! I kind of wish we would have built a wedding website when we got married. These are some great tips.

Wedding is a most special bond, I like weddings. the flowers, celebration, colors, dance and dresses all constitutes a wedding together. So its a great idea of wedding website, where you can look out everything for a great wedding.

This is a very beautifully put together site. I can imagine that wedding sites would be very beautiful and informative things. And the nice thing is that they could last for a really long time. Beautiful pictures here as well.

There are so many things I love about wedding sites. I love browsing them. I dream about my daughters getting married and planning their wedding some day

This is very informative. I’m a lowkey courthouse wedding kind of girl but I know weddings are a big deal to most. I love how exciting brides get and I’m sure building their website is one of the more exciting aspects of wedding planning.

When I had created our wedding website, my favorite part was being able to finally tell our story to everyone that it would reach. I was able to openly answer how we met and why we chose the bridal party we did. The entire website was a representation of us.
