Drinking Jam Cellars Over the Weekend

Enjoying Butter and Jam Wine

September 3, 2017

It's time to go back to school, or should I say back to wine?

What better way to celebrate a holiday weekend than by popping open a few delicious bottles of wine? Am I right? Or am I right?

There's nothing quite like opening a brand new bottle of wine, and sharing it with a significant other. A friend. The incredible taste of those grapes hitting the tongue in the perfect way. Over the years, we have decided to pair wine with specific foods. Red with red meat, white with fish. White is more suitable for lunches and the day time, while red is perfect for the evening.

We like to enjoy our wine.

Luckily Jam Cellars makes some seriously incredible wines. Anytime I decide to purchase a wine, a few things catch my eye. The varietal of course. Cabernet Sauvignon is my favorite when it comes to red, and recently Chardonnay has been my favorite white. The buttery tones are always delicious. While I love specific varietals, there's so many options to choose from nowadays. Something that makes a big difference is the name of the wine, as well as the labels. When I first saw this labeling, the colors called out to me. It was clear the label was well made, and the name Jam and Butter is quite cute too. Last night when I showed the labels to my boyfriend's mom and sister, they thought it was very clever that the wines are called Butter and Jam. Points for creativity no doubt.

These wines are made in the tradition of great California winemaking. After tasting both wines, I can attest to the rich, bold and luscious attributes to these bottles. When it comes to the price, I love a delicious bottle of wine for a reasonable amount of price. The best part is that these are under $20.

The Butter Chardonnay is so easy to drink, and it's not too buttery. Some chardonnays seem to taste like velvety butter, but this one is a lighter taste of butter and it's drinkable. It melts in your mouth. You can read more details about the wine here. The grapes selected for this particular chardonnay are juicy, ripe and full of flavor. Jam Cellars "cold ferments the wine to a lush creaminess and ages it in a unique blend of oak. Butter brims with stone fruit and baked-lemon notes and has a lovely, long, vanilla finish."

I agree with Jam Cellar's description, as the wine is buttery with slight vanilla and lemon notes. It's perfect for casual sipping.

I absolutely love Cabernet Sauvignon, especially when it's not too dry. The Jam Cabernet is made with blackberries, black plums, black currant, cassis and a few more ingredients. It's harvested at the perfect ripeness and made in the tradition of great Californian winemaking. This means the Jam Cab bursts with lush berries on the palate. More details about the wine itself can be found here.

This wine is definitely berry-licious and tastes so fruity and luscious on the tongue. It is easy on the palate.
