Eyelash Curlers-Are They Necessary?

For some reason, I feel like I’ve never really bought into the idea of an eyelash curler.

Honestly I don’t know what it is is, but the thought of spending upwards of $20 on a tool that never did much for me seemed like a waste. I see a lot of makeup artists, YouTubers, and beauty bloggers raving on and on about their curlers. I will admit: I still don’t get it. I am someone whose eyelashes naturally go downwards which is unfortunate for me, but I do not understand the value of using a curler and pumping my lashes because they won’t point any direction but down. Trust me when I tell you that I have tried every technique out there. Even the makeup artists at beauty counters have used their best curlers and have not seen any results with my lashes so it’s not just me…I promise.

Recently I did purchase a new curler from Sephora. I picked a hot pink one, but they have a variety of colors so there’s definitely one in there for you if you’re interested. I’m giving the curlers another go in the hopes that consistent use of them will help my eyelashes not go downwards on the regular. Maybe they’ll be straight or have a slight upward tilt to them if I use this enough? You never know.

My lashes naturally curl upwards so I find an eyelash curler unnecessary. I have one and I use it every now and then, but i think it’s the idea of using it. It makes me feel more glamorous somehow! Like when you watch old movies and the woman is getting ready, old Hollywood glam.

I used to loveeee them, I felt they made such a different but lately they tend to just ruin the whole look haha. Like all things beauty… it’s a love hate relationship lol.

I definitely agree. Eyeliner is like that for me. I love it on days I do it right, but then I hate it every other day because I will mess it up on a regular basis. The price we pay to be women!

Have you become a pro at putting on false eyelashes? I am one of those ninnies who CAN put them on but I need to plan about 45 minutes of my day in order for them to finally be done right. I’ve messed up my entire eye look before and had to start all over. However I know once you’re a pro, you don’t have a care in the world and your lashes look phenomenal! Falsies definitely make you look different and I always thought it was a good different 🙂

I never use them! I don’t think my eyelashes need to be the center of attention. Have you ever tried the heated eyelash curlers? I think Dior makes it? Kind of silly. I love your rifle paper calendar.

I used to use them everyday but I do already have curly eyelashes so they’re not the most necessary tool. A tip: blast your hairdryer on the curler for a couple seconds, let it cool for a couple seconds and then CAREFULLY curl your lashes. It gives the curl a longer hold!

I don’t see the appeal to be honest! I feel rather frightened to bend my lashes in case they break 🙁 xxxx

I do find that when I am pumping my lashes with the curler and trying to switch them, my lashes actually hurt a bit and I also worry I will rip out my few precious lashes. They take forever to grow back too so ripping any out is not ok!

I think many mascaras out there are really doing a great job at curling so it’s not as “necessary” to have the curlers.
