Using the Trophy Skin Microdermabrasion Device

This post is sponsored by and in collaboration with Trophy Skin.

Before I decided to collaborate with Trophy Skin, I took the skin care test to determine which products I would need. After taking the test, it was clear that Microdermabrasion would be the key for me. For this collaboration, I tried the MiniMD along with the pore extraction tip and Hydrating Facial Mist. The pore extraction tip can be used on the MiniMD on the low power level to remove excess oil, debris, blackheads, whiteheads from clogged pores. This is the key for me because I do have a lot of excess oil. This way, I'm able to get the anti-aging benefits with some extra help with that pesky excess oil, which if you know me, you know that I have a bit of an issue with from time to time. In the past, my skin was extremely oily, but nowadays I can manage it significantly better.

Close up of the Trophy Skin Microdermabrasion Device

I've told this story a few times, but during my college days, I did a sun damage test to see how bad my skin had been damaged from all my younger days laying out in the sun for 10 hours a day. I got into a dark room and the light was put to my face, and the damage unreal. I had acne scars, severe sun damage and the dermatologist said that if I didn't start taking care of my skin, I would be in trouble in a few short years. Luckily after that experience, I shaped up and really got my act together.

Unfortunately for me, since that experience, I've still accumulated a lot of damage to my skin. Acne scars are essentially top on the list. I had horrible acne in high school (so bad it just became a part of my skin's texture and I just rolled with it) and it didn't get any better in college if I'm quite honest. As I got older, I started taking birth control that would calm my hormones down and subside the acne. Even though I've got hundreds of skin care products now, acne is inevitable to some degree. Stress, anxiety, a little overindulgence, humidity, you name it. I can't prevent all breakouts, but I've learned not to pick pimples because that is the surest way of getting an acne scar. Now I just leave it be, apply some pimple cream from the various brands I love, and then hope it dies down over a few days and leave my skin without a trace. This is the wishful thinking within me, because more likely than not it leaves a scar. It's super frustrating especially when you're eating healthy, cutting the sugar, drinking lots of water, and so forth, but again it's part of life. Pimples happen. Because of this fact, I really wanted to try this Microdermabrasion device from Trophy Skin to see what kind of results I would have.

The definition of microdermabrasion is "a cosmetic treatment in which the face is sprayed with exfoliant crystals to remove dead epidermal cells." Essentially the goal of microdermabrasion is to remove those dead skin cells off your face to expose the healthy amazing skin underneath. The MiniMD does exactly this by gently removing that outer layer.

Knowing the benefits of microdermabrasion, this device helps with acne, acne scars, age spots, sun damage, large pores, dull skin, dry skin, ketosis pilaris, milia, fine lines, wrinkles, discoloration, hyperpigmentation, and some minor scars. Not to mention it helps to improve general skin health because the goal is to look just as good without the same amount of makeup.

Because I travel so much, I opted for the mini size because it's just that much more travel-friendly. You will receive the following with your MiniMD:

MiniMD device

30 pack of filters

Medium diamond tip

Power adapter

User manual

It retails for only $99, which is such a deal considering the expensive devices out there on the market and salon services for microdermabrasion.

Trophy Skin Trial for Microdermabrasion

MiniMD is an easy to use, personal microdermabrasion tool that delivers results on par with clinical treatments over time, yet is basic enough for novice users to operate. You don't have to be a professional to get great results. The MiniMD is super simple to use with just a little bit of practice. It takes only 5 minutes to get back that smooth, glowing, and youthful looking skin that is just below the surface! Regular treatments may improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, sun-damaged skin, age and liver spots, acne scars and other mild scarring, dull uneven skin tone and texture, rough skin on hands and feet, skin conditions like Ketosis Pilaris, and large unsightly pores.

Trophy Skin even kindly provided a 10% off coupon code: ADAATUDE.

How it works:

My MiniMD uses dual-action therapy combining the use of diamond tipped exfoliation and suction.

During the treatment, the outer layer of skin is removed using light abrasion which helps to promote the growth of new cells. The suction helps increase blood flow to the epidermis which rebuilds collagen and elastin.

MiniMD is clinically proven to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and dark spots while softening and smoothing the skin. The impact this device has made on my actual skin is tremendous, and the acne spots are much lighter. It's also helped me with the redness of my skin, which is a huge relief since I absolutely love the idea of one day wearing less makeup to cover up imperfections such as acne scars.

While this device is specific for the face, I did expert with it on the stretch marks on my thighs. Since I've been working out, the stretch marks have gotten much more prominent. I was absolutely amazed by the effect after just ONE use of the device on my stretch marks. It really made a big difference, and I can't explain how thankful and happy I am that I discovered Trophy Skin.
