Recent Beauty Purchases I Just Had to Have
I know what some of you may be thinking (especially friends who have seen the drawers and boxes filled with product in my house). Why on earth would you buy beauty products when you're overflowing with them already? Well sometimes you're not on every PR list that you want to be on, and you have to snag some things for yourself + a lot of you send recommendations of what I need to test and try against other products I've tried. I love long scrolls down the Sephora site. Who's with me?
Iconic London Prep Set Glow After seeing this mentioned multiple times on Lorna Luxe's stories, I had to get it myself. It's got a bit of a bronzey glow, but it preps and sets makeup. As you know, this is a bronzed and glowy summer, so I knew more of these sprays would become readily available to us. Ironically enough, as soon as this one arrived from Iconic London, MAC's latest PR package came too which had their MAC Fix+ bronze edition. Which one is better? I think I love them both equally, but the Iconic London one does smell a bit different which has an allure to it since I've been using s MAC Fix+ for years.
Viseart Rosé EDIT Eyeshadow Palette Rarely (if ever) do I buy eyeshadow palettes. Why? I use the same kind of shade over and over. It'll be a champagne shimmery (never matte) shade or more likely than not a warm bronzey or brown shade that is comparable to Urban Decay's Toasted. As I was finalizing my cart, I decided to take a peek at a brand I used to be slightly obsessed with (Viseart.) I had one of their original palettes back in the day, so I decided to take a peek at what they were doing now. The rosé palette called to me, along with a few others, but I just thought I would get a lot of wear out of the entire palette since the colors were definitely me. Not to mention I could even get a bit outside my comfort zone. This was a great purchase in all honesty, because the pigmentation is fantastic, long lasting and super buttery. It is smaller than I expected, but it's perfect for travel and gives so many options for day and night. Now all I need is a dreamy vacation so I can pack this into my bag.
NARS Afterglow Lip Balm (Orgasm & Turbo) I have been looking for more glosses and hydrating finishes this summer, but still a bit of color payoff. I mentioned a few weeks ago it would be a glossy, bronzey sun droppy kind of summer and I think I've been correct on all accounts thus far. This formula is super lightweight and is (as the name suggests) more of a balm and not a drying lip option. I'm amazed at the lovely color payoff, of Turbo (which is a vivacious red) and then some of the other shades like Dolce Vita and Orgasm are a bit more muted but still have a nice pop.
By Terry Brightening CC Serum Quite possibly my favorite makeup discovery of the decade, this CC serum is incredible. I've always been a fan of By Terry (especially the rose lip balm and the shimmery creamy eyeshadow sticks) but this is a tinted CC serum so you're getting a mix of skincare into a simply stunning makeup product. It smells lovely, lasts all day and gives the most beautiful glow in their darkest shade. It comes in 4 shades depending on what you're looking for, but I cannot recommend Sunny Flash enough. I've seen it on many different skin tones and it's gorgeous on every single one. Must have.
Chantecaille Hydrating Cheek Gelee When it comes to blush, liquid formulations are having a moment. For summer time, I absolutely love something cream because it blends beautifully into the skin and looks more natural. Powder tends to sweat off (especially if it's warm or humid where you live) so I tend to stick to a little pump of the liquid for each cheek since this is a more natural blush color, especially on top of my bronzey summer makeup. It's super lightweight, and has a nice cooling effect to it.
Iconic London 'Original' Illuminator This has been my go-to for weeks. Similar story with the liquid product here, since normally I'd go in with a massive amount of powder highlight, but this has just been rocking my world. The liquid formulations have a serious sheen to them which makes the highlight pop even more.
Dior Forever Skin Correct Concealer I used to skip concealer a few years ago, but the older I get the more important it is. With some of the blue veins on my inner corner, and then the general darkness from being on my laptop all day and getting 5-6 hours of sleep some nights, this concealer makes me look like I've slept 12 hours a day, on a vacation. You know vacation sleep just hits different.
By Terry Brightening CC Blush Similar to the Chantecaille option, this is a liquid blush that blends beautifully into the skin. This is the most gorgeous color, much more intense but gives you that true blush color. It's that rosy glow that looks almost natural like you were quite literally blushing. Something so girly and feminine about this color, and it smells divine.
Chantecaille Just Skin Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15 I used to shy away from a tinted moisturizer because I did't want to use a moisturizer as a base. I need that thick coverage that only MAC or NARS could offer me, but realistically had I used lighter bases back then, it may have prevented additional breakouts. The color range is fairly small, so it's pretty easy to find the closest shade.
Ilia Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40 With the summery theme, comes bases that are lightweight but still give the coverage. This was highly rated, and a few people asked me my thoughts on formulations, price point, and overall coverage. It is a great product with medium to full coverage. It is buildable, and it is very lightweight which is ideal.
