Skincare Mother’s Day Gift Guide
With Mother’s Day just around the corner, I did something a little different for my mom this year because I’m not able to see her. We had actually planned a trip to LA for the end of March, but with everything that’s been going on, that obviously didn’t happen. Regardless of the current state of things, we are more connected than ever and I wanted to make sure she knew I was still thinking about her. A few weeks ago, I decided to make a skincare routine for her using a few of my absolutely favorite products. What better gift than one she is going to continue using over and over again, over the coming months?
If you follow along on Instagram, you would’ve seen this post showcasing the entire routine I handpicked for my mom because I personally love each and every single one of the products. Knowing that she loves hydrating high quality products, I knew she would absolutely love exploring more of Drunk Elephant and Laneige.
All of my picks can be found at Sephora inside JCPenney.
The most satisfying piece of my own skincare routine is removing that top layer of makeup. There's just something so satisfying about that part, even if the makeup looked bomb. In terms of a brand that’s good enough for my mom, Drunk Elephant is 150% it. My first step is a cleansing balm that’s hydrating but removes the day (makeup, dirt, oil, etc) from the skin is an easy gentle way. Truthfully nothing breaks apart even the heaviest of makeup like this one does. This Drunk Elephant Makeup Melting Butter Cleanser is so gentle and feels great on the skin. Not to mention it's excellent if you have dryness, redness, any dullness or skin texture issues. When I removed makeup removing wipes from my routine, I went to a cleansing balm because it’s much more nourishing and less stripping. This is “100 percent free of essential oils, silicones, fragrance, and PEGs. Irritant-free. Gluten-free. This product is also vegan.”
Next when it comes to a face oil, I have gravitated to Drunk Elephant’s Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil for years. No exaggeration there. It's been years that I've been using their face oil, and I honestly can't get enough. We just finished another bottle of it over the weekend. I am currently on bottle number 3. Maybe 4? I honestly don’t remember but I love this oil so much because it hydrates my skin overnight, and I notice that the oil penetrates deeper into my skin and also maintains its moisture overnight. If I ever need an instant hit of moisture, this is the best product for that topical hydration.
Because I love creating mini concoctions, the Protini Polypeptide Cream has been my go-to for mixing bronze glow drops, glow drops, anti-pollution drops and so much more. It’s got the perfect consistency, and it will hydrate the skin really well. Not to mention it blends beautifully. It’s great before makeup, mixed with drops of your choice, but it is also a great moisturizer at the end of a long day, as the final step in your skincare routine. I’ve been going in with this one for years, and it’s worked wonders with my hydration levels.
One of my favorite things to hydrate on my face is my lips, because they get so dry and chapped throughout the day. Especially lately since it’s already been 90+ degrees here in Arizona. The dryness in the air just sucks the moisture right out of my skin. The Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask is the ultimate hydration boost for all lips, so I got my mom a little kit. Two flavors including Candy and Mint, so she can pick her lip balm based on her mood.
Personally I think skincare (something my mom will actually use and love) is one of the best gifts for Mother’s Day. Not to mention, I got her some majorly hydrating items which I know she is a huge fan of, because she’s used oils and hydrating creams her entire life.
