The Ultimate Gift for a Beauty Lover

When it comes to a beauty or makeup lover, I have the best option for you or anyone on your list. I’m about to introduce you to a brand that is clean. Not to mention in my humble opinion, it’s a feel-good because you shouldn't feel guilty spoiling yourself with their products because they do so much good.
Insert trestique. I’ve loved their products for years, and had my last set of theirs for all those years (besides the point that makeup does expire but we’ll just ignore that I did that) but I believe in so many of their long-term missions. Their products are refillable and made from recycled materials which leads me to one of the main reasons I love the brand. Sustainability. Aka being conscious of the environment which is so incredibly important especially for those of us who are young. Their packaging is reusable, making it more cost effective long-term because as a consumer you just need to buy refills but the original packaging is yours. This eliminates a lot of the plastic waste that is happening, particularly in the beauty industry. Collectively we must make a better effort at being more sustainable and putting the planet’s best interest in front of convenience. If not consistently, at least with decisions like deciding to snag a set from trestique.

1. Choose any 4-12 products to build your custom set (the flexibility of how many products you can include is one of my favorite elements so if you don’t want a brow product you don’t have to add that into the mix; it’s only what you’re looking to use in your set!)
2. Choose your favorite bag to carry your makeup (we love a full collection especially when it makes it so travel friendly that it’s easy to throw into your day to day handbag.) We love a full collection, and I've never seen one that incorporated the makeup bag so seamlessly for ease of travel! The entire routine is TSA approved (no liquids!) and weighs under 1/2 lb.

Of all the things Bottom line is you don’t need to be a makeup artist to use their products. It’s not difficult to get a beautiful result, especially since everything is cream based. In my experience, cream products blend beautifully into the skin and look so much more natural.

By building your makeup set (with the exact items you want and need) you have control over what comes in it but you also get it for a reasonable price. I did a live with trestique's co-founder Jenn Kapahi, and learned that it is much more expensive to utilize recycled or sustainable products, which is such a shame. Right now the market makes it more expensive to clean and repurpose than it does to make it brand new.

Cruelty free. Vegan. Truly clean. Oftentimes clean means a lot of different things to different brands in the US (because there’s little to no regulation) but when it comes to trestique, they adhere to the European Union standards. We applaud that hustle!

By building your makeup set (with the exact items you want and need) you have control over what comes in it but you also get it for a reasonable price. As I learned from the co-founder of trestique, it is more expensive to use recyclable and sustainable packaging than it is to use brand new so it’s a sacrifice on pricing to do better for the environment. How crazy is that? Luckily, trestique is making the right decision!
So with all of that said, here’s my 5 minute makeup routine breakdown:
I like to get eyeshadow done, and handled so I can conceal and do the full face so I start with the Shadow Crayon in Kona Shimmer. This is a super creamy formulation and can be blended with the brush included or with your finger. Most of the time I personally love to just use my finger because the temperature of your finger is enough to get this formula blended. Since I’m not the best with liner (very evident from the live we did which you can watch here) I do love something that can add a little smokiness. With the Santorini Black Sand Eyeliner, I can gently add a little bit of smokiness into the mix. If you’re more of a pro, you can go more heavy handed and really leave line those lids.
When it comes to skincare, I’ve always loved it so much because I truly (through and through) enjoy applying the least amount of foundation and overall makeup. At the moment, my skin is going through a VERY rough patch so it’s nice to apply the foundation to cover the pimples, redness and overall dryness. Their Foundation Stick in the shade Paradise Island Beige offers me great coverage, while being creamy and hydrating. The hero ingredients that make this foundation stick so hydrating are:
Carrot Complex: safely and naturally shields skin from the damaging effects of blue light.
Hyaluronic Acid: Locks in moisture, leaving the skin looking plump, healthy, and hydrated for a radiant complexion.
Vitis Vita Actives: known to boost the production of collagen in the skin and helps to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
To add that final va va voom to the lashes, we need the Good Vibes Mascara in Icelandic Black Laquer. The coolest thing about this product is that you’re getting a lash curler on my end, and then the mascara wand on the other so it’s not only a tool, but it is the mascara wand. The patents on these multitaskers are incredible.
When it comes to the eyebrows, I don’t do a lot of work since my microblading takes care of itself. However I like to fill them in a bit when I’m looking to make a statement, and the Brow Pencil + Gel is epic in the shade Americano.
Back in college, I used to really layer on the blush. Nowadays I just love a subtle blush that makes it looks like I’ve got a nice flush to the cheeks. Almost as if I ran up the stairs too fast. The Blush Stick in St. Barths Pink is the one!
When it comes to a bold lip, I am here for it. The Matte Lip Crayon + Balm is gorgeous in the shade Chile Red. Absolutely the best lippie for date nights, and any evening out.
Finally to bring a nice pop to the look, we need a little highlight. The Highlight Stick in the shade Maldives Luminescent added a nice sheen.
Building your own set (whether it’s 4 products, 6 products or the full shebang) is totally up to you. The products are refillable and if anyone doesn't know their shade, you can always use the match quiz on their site. It gives you the flexibility to add what you want, and the products you want to use in your routine. All of the ingredients are clean and pigmented. Oftentimes when I find clean brands, I find that they’re just not as effective but in the case of trestique, there is insane pigmentation.
